The Democratic National Convention kicked off its first day in Chicago on Monday with speeches from former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and President Joe Biden.
Thousands of protestors took to the streets around the United Center calling for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war. Police have upped their forces around the arena and have promised to protect residents and political figures alike.
