Police in Frederick, Maryland, have arrested five men in the killing of a teenager whose remains were found in a park in April.
Police arrested Alexis Alfredo Ayala Lopez, 21; Jose Roberto Ramos Lopez, 23; Ismael Lopez Lopez, 29; Elmer Bladimir Reyes Reyes, 27, and Ismael Ivan Rivera Canales, 20, on May 26. All five men have been charged with first-degree murder.
Frederick police said family members reported Limber Lopez Funez as missing on Feb. 25. Detectives discovered what appeared to be a crime scene while searching the wooded area near Orchard Way a day later on Feb. 26, but the search continued for Lopez Funez.
Police said they discovered human remains on April 24 in the Gambrill State Park area after learning that Lopez Funez may have been in the area, and the remains were confirmed to be those of Lopez Funez.
“Our team spent countless hours following leads and conducting searches all over the county,” said Jason Lando, Frederick chief of police. “We were all hoping to find Limber alive and well, but sadly that did not happen.”
Police did not say where the five men who were arrested are from or where they’re being held, as Frederick police are not releasing any additional details at this time. It’s also not clear if any of the five suspects are related.
