Chesapeake crab spice soon to be a Lay’s chip flavor

WASHINGTON — Good news for you couch potatoes who are craving crab flavor but too lazy to get crackin’.

Chip maker Lay’s has announced “Chesapeake Bay Crab Spice” is one of eight new flavors rolling out later this summer.

The new flavors — each inspired by popular regional dishes — are part of Lay’s new limited-edition “Taste of America” line.

The crab spice chips are “inspired by crab shacks along the Atlantic” and feature “a taste of the bay with custom-blended spices.”

The new flavors will hit store shelves July 30.

Other new “Taste of America” flavors include:

  • Cajun Spice (Gulf Coast)
  • Chile con queso (Southwest)
  • Deep dish pizza (Midwest)
  • Fried pickles with ranch (Midwest)
  • New England lobster roll (Northeast)
  • Pimento cheese (South)
  • Thai sweet chili (Pacific Northwest)

In addition, Lay’s is rereleasing four previous regional-inspired flavors: West Coast truffle shuffle; bacon-wrapped jalapeño pepper; fried green tomatoes; and ketchup.
