Truck driver dies after striking Lorton power lines

WASHINGTON — A truck driver died in Lorton, Virginia, Thursday morning after the tarp on top of his truck made contact with some power lines.

Officer Reem Awad, of the Fairfax County police said the accident happened around 6 a.m. at Mordor Drive and Furnace Road.

The driver, whom police later identified as Bobby Blevins Jr., 47, had pulled over when the tarp lifted and touched the power lines, electrocuting him, police said. They don’t know yet why he pulled over, or why the tarp went up; they’re continuing to investigate.
