WASHINGTON – A woman was fatally stabbed by her ex-husband, who was later found dead in what Vienna police are describing as a murder-suicide.
The case is still pending a final report from the medical examiner.
Police found the bodies of 47-year-old Sabrina Titus and 53-year-old Ralph Titus after responding to two separate 911 calls about a mile apart within a few minutes of each other on Sunday night.
Sabrina Titus was found at a Vienna home with stab wounds to her upper-body and was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Police responded to a call of shots fired at another Vienna residence about a mile away from the home where Sabrina Titus was found. When they arrived, officers found the body of Ralph Titus who died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Ralph and Sabrina Titus were divorced but a police spokesman could not say for how long.
They had two children together who were not physically harmed during the incident. A police spokesman said because the case is still open they could not say whether or not the children were at the scene of either incident.
A press release says the children are currently in the care of extended family, and police have reached out to Fairfax County Victim Services for additional support.
