Rope courses could be coming to Fairfax parks

WASHINGTON — There could be a new addition coming to local parks.

The Fairfax County Park Authority is looking for a contractor to build high ropes adventure courses and slacklining courses throughout the county.

InsideNOVA reports that the first place to get one of these courses would be South Run Park, in the Springfield area.

County officials like these courses because they allow people of all ages to participate and are a great way to get exercise and do some team-building activities.  It also allows people to enjoy the forest without cutting down any trees.

The request for proposals is looking for a contractor to design, build and operate the courses.  The contractor would also charge an admission fee to recoup the costs to construct the course.

While the request for proposals ends Jan. 22, there is no word on when the first course could open.
