On Friday afternoon, police announced 38-year-old Nely Bonillas de Cordon fled the area on Thursday around 4:30 p.m. with her 6-month-old son, Arturo.

Her husband reported her missing and believed she may be headed to El Salvador. She had wanted her son to be with extended family there, her husband told police.

She left the area in the family car, a 2002 green Saturn SL2 four-door sedan with Virginia tags of WMX-1031.

A license plate reader last saw her car in the 1600 block of Columbia Road in Northwest D.C. around 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
