Best Movies of 2017

WASHINGTON — From start to finish, 2017 was a year of controversy in Hollywood.

It began with a bizarre Oscar gaffe switching Best Picture from “La La Land” to “Moonlight,” then ended with a tidal wave of sex scandals from Harvey Weinstein to Kevin Spacey.

Thankfully for audiences, there were some impressive movies to watch in between, from summer blockbusters to indie gems, from festival favorites to recent award contenders.

Now, WTOP Film Critic Jason Fraley ranks the Best Movies of 2017, offering detailed explanations on each slide, then listing the full ranking beneath the gallery:
