WTOP’s Chris Cichon chats with Fandango’s Alicia Malone
WASHINGTON — It’s a 93-degree day with 90-percent humidity. You have too much sunburn from going to the beach last weekend. What better to beat the heat than to chill inside a comfy movie theatre and check out a flick?
This summer, we’ve got a Will-Smith-less “Independence Day” sequel, an all-female remake of “Ghostbusters” and an animated sequel to the bestselling DVD of all time: “Finding Nemo.”
Speaking of Will Smith, he stars in the latest installment of DC Comics’ “Suicide Squad,” reuniting with Margot Robbie, his co-star in the 2015 thriller “Focus.”
And if you’re a big Matthew McConaughey fan, the actor stars in a Civil War drama based on a true story in “Free State of Jones,” which chronicles a group of small farmers and local slaves in an armed rebellion against the Confederacy in Jones County, Mississippi.
What will be the biggest hit this summer? What film has the biggest flop potential? Alicia Malone of Fandango spoke with WTOP and offered her preview for the summer slate of movies.
