Va. fraternities suspended over goat abuse allegations

RADFORD, Va. (AP) — Four fraternities at Radford University have been suspended amid reports about a goat that had been abused.

Local news outlets report that school officials sanctioned the chapters of Delta Chi, Sigma Pi, Pi Lamda Phi and Alpha Sigma Phi on Monday following an investigation into the allegations.

The school says in a Facebook post that it learned of the possible animal abuse on Sunday. University leaders say they were made aware of reports about the possible mistreatment of a juvenile goat by one or more student groups.

Details on the abuse allegations were unavailable.

Radford City Police say the goat’s whereabouts remain a mystery. City spokeswoman Jenni Wilder says authorities have been searching for the goat for days. No one has been charged.
