WASHINGTON — Talk about a rude awakening. Imagine waking up to find your car and your dog gone.
That’s what happened to a family in Northeast D.C. on Thursday.
A woman called D.C. police to report that her car was missing from the 1200 block of West Virginia Avenue between Mt. Olivet Road and Florida Avenue where she had parked it the night before. She also reported that her 4-month-old brown and white pit bull was missing.
Police believe that someone entered the victim’s house through the front door between midnight and 6:30 a.m., took a set of keys, the dog and then left.
But the day ended with a positive note since the dog, Bella, was returned to the family.
Fox 5 reported that a man was watching the news and found out that the dog was missing. He brought the dog back to the family but did not disclose how he found the dog, saying he found her Thursday morning.
