16-year-old victim identified in DC Metro station stabbing

WASHINGTON — A 16-year-old boy died following a stabbing near the NoMa-Gallaudet U/New York Ave. Metro station in Northeast D.C. Tuesday afternoon.

The victim has been identified as Tyshon Perry, of Northeast D.C. He had attended KIPP DC College Preparatory high school.

The stabbing occurred around 4:30 p.m. near New York Avenue and 2nd Street Northeast. Perry was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead.

Police said witnesses saw a large group of teens in the area when the incident occurred, who scattered after the stabbing.

Police also say the group was so large that no specific description of any suspect was available.

D.C. police are currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest or conviction of the person or persons responsible. Anyone with any information is asked to call 202-727-9099 or text an anonymous tip to 50411.
