DC man pleads guilty to employing minors in prostitution ring

WASHINGTON — A D.C. man is facing the possibility of life in prison after pleading guilty to federal charges of sex trafficking and abusing children.

Daraya Marshall, 37, signed a plea deal with the government and will soon learn his sentence.

Court documents say that between the summer of 2014 and 2015, Marshall knowingly employed four girls, ranging in age from 14 to 17, to have sex with clients for money.

Court documents say Marshall sought out the girls, posted illicit photos of them on Backpage.com and took money from clients they slept with.

In some cases, Marshall gave the girls drugs and shelter at his apartment on South Capitol Street in Southeast, and crossed state lines into Maryland and Virginia to pick them up and drive them to clients, the documents said.

Marshall is charged with four counts of sex trafficking of children, one count of sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of first degree child sexual abuse. He faces between 30 years and life in prison when a federal judge sentences him.
