Man charged in father’s fatal DC shooting

WASHINGTON (AP) — Authorities say a man has been charged in the fatal shooting of his father earlier this month.

The Washington Post reports (http://wapo.st/2nmE02a ) that 23-year-old Bernard Coleman III was arrested Tuesday and charged with second-degree murder while armed and theft in the fatal shooting of his father, 43-year-old Bernard Coleman. Police say officers called to a home in southeast Washington on March 17 for a report of an unconscious person in a home found the elder Coleman dead with gunshot wounds.

According to an arrest affidavit, the younger Coleman confessed to shooting his father and said the shooting was accidental.
