WASHINGTON — A D.C. police officer was charged with a DUI after a supervisor found him under the influence of alcohol while on duty, police said in a news release.
Officer Arthur Thompson was arrested Sunday after failing field sobriety tests. Police said his impairment was discovered by a supervisor who was investigating a citizen’s complaint and “detected the odor of alcohol.”
The incident happened at around 2:20 a.m. in the 1400 block of 18th Street Southeast.
Thompson had been with the police department for four years.
Police said Thompson’s police powers have since been revoked. The incident is being investigated by the department’s internal affairs division.
