Air Force flyovers planned over DC base

WASHINGTON — Low-flying aircraft over the D.C. area Wednesday night were part of a military flyover, and residents may see — and hear — the aircraft again Thursday evening, officials said.

The military flyovers began Wednesday night, as part of a dress rehearsal for a performance to celebrate the 69th birthday of the Air Force, known as the U.S. Air Force Tattoo.

The final in-air performance — which will include five military aircraft flyovers, including an F-16 formation — is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday over Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in Southwest D.C.
