WASHINGTON — Three employees at the Washington Monument were trapped in its elevator Saturday night, but have made it out safely, according to U.S. Park Police.
The elevator broke down around 9:30 p.m. and the cause behind its malfunction is still not known. An additional 25 people were in the monument when the elevator got stuck, but they were able to take the stairs down.
A park police spokesperson says that there were no injuries reported.
This glitch follows a string of issues that have plagued the monument’s elevator in recent months.
