WASHINGTON — Sealed search warrants for 14 cellphones and two Facebook accounts, some of which are linked to the man charged with the deaths of a D.C. family and their housekeeper, are among the mounting evidence prosecutors plan to use at trial.
Newly released court documents list the heap of digital evidence prosecutors have gathered as part of their case against Daron Wint, 35, who is charged with murder in the deaths of Amy and Savvas Savopoulos, their 10-year-old son Philip and housekeeper Vera Figueroa.
Also among the evidence, court documents reveal that investigators now have fingerprint and lab results from the crime scene, which were processed by the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms.
DNA found on partially eaten pizza found inside the fire-damaged house led police to Wint, who once worked for the construction supply company that Savvas Savopoulos ran.
“He knows, you know, what happened,” Nellie Gutierrez told WTOP’s news partner NBC4 about Wint.
Gutierrez was the family’s other housekeeper, and was warned by a text message to stay away from the multimillion house near the National Cathedral the day prosecutors say the four were taken hostage by multiple suspects.
“I think about what happened that day, every single day,” she said.
She recalled that Figueroa mentioned seeing men watch the house in the days leading up to the murders, Guiterrez said.
Wint’s next hearing is May 20. A trial date has not been set.
