WASHINGTON — MacArthur Boulevard has reopened in both directions after an 8-inch water main break.

Repairs to a broken 106-year-old water main near MacArthur Boulevard have been completed, and the road has reopened through the Palisades after a morning closure.

The road was closed during the morning commute in both directions between Reservoir Road and Foxhall Road because of damage to the pavement. The road reopened at about 12:15 p.m.

Crews were filling in and patching the road surface about 11:30 a.m.

DC Water says an 8-inch water line broke on 47th Place between MacArthur Boulevard and Reservoir Road. Water was shut off between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m., affecting about 20 homes in the area.
