WASHINGTON — Four people were taken to the hospital from the area of a D.C. homeless shelter this afternoon after becoming ill from an unknown substance or drug.
They are all in serious condition but are suspected to survive. The four individuals were found near the Community for Creative Non-Violence, a shelter on 2nd Street NW, according to D.C. Fire and EMS.
About a dozen people were taken from that area earlier this month after they became ill from smoking synthetic marijuana.
D.C. police announced Monday a new effort to crack down on synthetic drugs.
