WASHINGTON — Police are investigating three shootings Tuesday in the Petworth area of D.C., and one of them was fatal.
The first two shootings happened around 2 a.m. Tuesday near 9th and Jefferson streets in the Northwest neighborhood, and about 15 minutes later about a block away on Ingraham Street.
In both cases, a group of men fired on two different cars, including a Camaro that had Fraternal Order of Police tags. It’s unclear whether police believe it was the same group of men involved in both shootings.
No one was hurt.
The third shooting was reported about five blocks south, on Delafield Place in Northwest at about 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Police say they found 21-year-old Daniel Hinton shot dead in the front seat of his car. The engine was running and the lights on.
Police haven’t said yet whether Hinton’s shooting was related to the earlier shootings.
