WASHINGTON — Virginia Railway Express trains resumed northbound travel after a train struck a vehicle on the Fredericksburg line, causing a two-hour delay.
The crash occurred north of Brooke Tuesday morning. Stafford County Sheriff’s Department says a Jeep Liberty stalled on the tracks after the driver got lost Tuesday morning. The driver and two occupants got out before the train hit the Jeep and no one was injured.
VRE started warning riders about the problems and to find alternate ways to work in the 6 a.m. hour.
VRE recommended Fredericksburg riders use alternative transportation.
The Metro option was open for VRE riders.
