WASHINGTON — Even if a Metro ride takes 15 minutes longer than it should, Metro may count that train as being on time.
But that will be put to a stop, Metro says, with a new measure of delays that’s tied to how long it takes between when riders tap into the system, and when they reach their destination.
Metro Board committees are also taking up a review Friday of the major six-year, $5 billion rebuilding projects started after the deadly 2009 Red Line crash. The review finds a significant amount of the money hasn’t been spent amid problems with management and delays in projects.
The rehabilitation plan has faced a series of delays, from inside and outside the agency, that has left a significant amount of the money allocated for safety and other improvements unspent in each of the last five fiscal years.
