WASHINGTON — Commuters can expect significant travel delays for at least the next month if their ride takes them on Military Road NW.
D.C.’s Department of Transportation is imposing partial lane closures on the east-west route, between Oregon Avenue and 14th Street, as a new phase of the 16th Street Bridge Project gets underway.
“Commuters and residents should prepare for major, ongoing delays on Military Road and the adjacent roadways during construction,” says DDOT, in a statement.
The agency says commuters should be prepared for single lane travel beginning eastbound today, with similar work on the westbound to follow.
DDOT says the eastbound right lane will be impacted first, followed by the westbound right lane closure. After the curb lanes in each direction are done, crews will work on the east and westbound left lanes.
One lane in each direction will remain open throughout the duration of the work, which is scheduled to be completed November 8, according to DDOT.
