WASHINGTON — If there were any day to expect a package delivery, odds are Thursday would be that day.
The United States Postal Service says Monday was the busiest mailing and delivery day of the year, which means according to the service’s calculations, Thursday will be the busiest delivery day.
More than 30 million packages handled by the postal service will show up on porches all across the country. But even that is a fraction of the 750 million packages being handled by the postal service this holiday season, a 12 percent increase over last year.
USPS advertised to hire 35,000 seasonal workers this year to help with the increased volume.
