Giant Food rolls out its own line of premium food products

WASHINGTON — Giant Food is launching a new line of store brand products called Taste of Inspirations.

The new product line includes more than 85 different items, ranging from refrigerated pastas, sauces, frozen appetizers, pizzas, desserts, marinades and dressings. They include a three herb fettucine, a grilled pineapple barbecue sauce, a sweet bourbon marinade and a chocolate lava cake.

The Taste of Inspirations line joins other Giant store brands that include Nature’s Promise organic products and Etos, its personal care products line.

Giant hopes to hook shoppers with the Taste of Inspirations line with in-store tastings April 28 and 29.

Giant didn’t directly say if the Taste of Inspirations line would be higher-priced. But in an email to WTOP, it said, “Products will vary in price based on which part of the line it is in, but Taste of Inspirations is a premium yet approachable line of products consumers can enjoy every day.”

The new product line is available at all 166 Giant Food locations in Virginia, Maryland, D.C. and Delaware.

Earlier this month, Giant Food rolled out a nutritional guide at its stores called Guiding Stars, labeling tens of thousands of items with a one- to three-star scale, showing shoppers how products rate for nutritional value.

One star means good, two means better, three means best and no star either means not recommended, not yet rated or a product for which a nutritional ranking is not applicable.
