Washington ranks among ‘most romantic’ cities

WASHINGTON — D.C. ranks as the nation’s seventh-most romantic city, if Instacart is an accurate measure.

The grocery delivery company analyzed nationwide data for user searches, and says in terms of sheer volume, “chocolate” came out on top of its search index terms, and “strawberries” came in second.

For its latest Instacart Romance Index, it identified what it deemed 12 universally romantic terms and used them to determine which cities were the most romantic. They are chocolate, Champagne, dessert, flowers, Valentine, hearts, candy, truffle, roses, strawberries, cookies and wine.

Boston ranks as the most romantic city on Instacart’s list for the second year in a row. Atlanta, which ranked as the fourth-least romantic city last year, has apparently found love, jumping to the second-most romantic city this year.

Here are Instacart’s 2018 Most Romantic Cities:

    1. Boston
    2. Atlanta
    3. Austin
    4. Philadelphia
    5. Charlotte
    6. Oakland
    7. Washington, D.C.
    8. Chicago

Its three least-romantic cities this year are Orlando, Raleigh and Indianapolis.
