WASHINGTON — The iconic Williamsburg Inn in Colonial Williamsburg has received the coveted AAA ‘Five Diamond’ designation, the first time it has attained AAA’s highest hotel rating.
Only 120 hotels in North America carry a Five Diamond rating from AAA, including three in D.C.: The Four Seasons Hotel Washington, The Ritz-Carlton Georgetown and The Ritz-Carlton Washington, D.C.
The Inn at Little Washington, in Washington, Virginia, also has a AAA Five Diamond designation.
“Guests of the Williamsburg Inn enjoy a perfect balance of historic elegance and modern comfort first realized by John D. Rockefeller Jr. 80 years ago, now re-imagined for a contemporary audience,” said Mitchell B. Reiss, president and CEO of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.
“AAA’s Five Diamond Award designation reflects our team’s devotion to providing a world-class experience.”
The Williamsburg Inn underwent an extensive renovation earlier this year, including a new restaurant and expanded event spaces.
Five Diamond-rated hotels, which earn their badges from AAA inspectors, are defined as those that deliver unmatched guest comfort with luxurious accommodations, extraordinary facilities and many personalized amenities.
“A big part of becoming a Five Diamond establishment is consistently exceeding expectations of the most discriminating traveler — the AAA inspector,” said Michael Petrone, director of AAA Inspections and Diamond Ratings.
