Rosslyn buildings get top rating for internet

WASHINGTON — Where’s the best office-building -internet connection in Virginia? In Rosslyn, and the top ranking goes to two buildings.

Monday Properties’ The Towers in Rosslyn, more commonly referred to as the Twin Towers, at 1000 and 1100 Wilson Blvd., received Platinum Wired Certification from WiredScore for the most advanced technology capabilities. It is the first commercial property in Virginia to receive the top rating.

Three office buildings in downtown D.C. also have Platinum Wired Certification: 1350 Eye Street Northwest; 2000 M Street Northwest; and the Homer Building, at 601 13th Street Northwest.

WiredScore evaluates buildings using what it calls a rigorous set of standards developed in conjunction with the top minds in the telecom and commercial real estate industries for both connectivity and reliability.

“The Northern Virginia area has recently seen a heavy influx of tech companies and startups as more D.C.-area businesses look outside the District for prime office space,” said WiredScore CEO Arie Barendrecht.

“As a result, we’re seeing leading office buildings in the area seeking to stand out by having the cutting-edge tech infrastructure that today’s businesses look for.”

Tenants at 1000 and 1100 Wilson Blvd. include Politico, WJLA owner Sinclair Broadcast Group and Grant Thornton.

WiredScore awards certification in four categories, including Platinum, Gold, Silver and Certified. More than 40 office buildings in the Washington metro area have one of those levels of certification.

About 650 properties in more than 50 cities have achieved some level of Wired Certification.
