GM car-sharing service Maven opens in DC

WASHINGTON — With Metro in the middle of long-term track repairs. it’s seemingly the perfect time for a new car-sharing service in the District. And right on cue, the General Motors-backed service Maven opened for business Monday.

The expansion of the service to D.C. was announced in May, along with new services in Boston and Chicago, The service started in February with service in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and soon moved to New York City.

The service provides cars such as a Chevrolet Malibu, a Cadillac ATS or the electric Chevrolet Volt for $8 an hour, while an SUV such as a Chevrolet Tahoe, a GMC Yukon or Cadillac Escalade costs $14 an hour.

For now, there’s no membership fee; gas and insurance are included, and daily rates are available.

The D.C. locations:

  • 1779 Columbia Rd. Northwest, in Adams Morgan;
  • The CVS lot at 1403 Wisconsin Ave. Northwest, at O Street, in Georgetown;
  • 2121 K St. Northwest, in Foggy Bottom;
  • 11 Dupont Circle, Northwest, Level 1;
  • 1800 Massachusetts Ave. Northwest, in the Dupont Circle area;
  • 1667 K St. Northwest, Level 1, in downtown D.C.;
  • 900 New York Ave. Northwest, south of Mount Vernon Square;
  • 300 K St. Northwest;
  • 300 Massachusetts Ave. NW (the Mass Court Apartments);
  • The Liaison Hotel Capitol Hill (Orange level), at 415 New Jersey Ave. Northwest;
  • 1100 First St. Northeast, level 1.
