Help wanted: 20 fields expected to add the most jobs

WASHINGTON – CareerBuilder listed the fastest growing industries with plenty of job prospects expected over the next five years.

Some 7.2 million jobs will be created from 2016 to 2021 in the United States – a 4.6 percent increase according to CareerBuilder. However, many industries are projected to outpace the national average during this period.

“Based on historical trends and the current hiring situation, we can expect to see nearly 1 in 3 industries add jobs at a rate that exceeds the national average,” CareerBuilder CEO Matt Ferguson said in a statement.

The gamut of industries experiencing growth is a “good indicator of stability and strength in the labor market,” Ferguson said.

Whether you’re a college student deciding on a major or a working professional looking for a career change, new findings may shed light on what field job seekers could consider.

The following industries are among those projected to add at least 10,000 jobs and to experience at least 15 percent growth in employment over the next five years:

Some of the CareerBuilder findings coincide with industries that the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects to be fast-growing over a long-term period, from 2014-2024. Among them are in health, computer systems designs and financial sectors.
