RAMMY finalists: Washington’s best restaurants

WASHINGTON — The Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington’s big Thursday night event at The Hamilton produced this year’s lists of finalists for its annual RAMMY awards, which will be handed out this summer.

The finalists were selected by two groups: the voting public and an anonymous panel of judges that includes food and dining journalists, educators and food service industry professionals.

There are several RAMMY award categories, including Formal Fine Dining Restaurant of the year. These finalists had to have been in business at least two years. They are Iron Gate, Marcel’s by Robert Wiedmaier and Rasika, all in the District, Restaurant Eve, in Alexandria, and Trummer’s on Main, in Clifton, Virginia.

Here are finalists in some other RAMMY categories this year.

  • Amy Brandwein, Centrolina
  • Erik Bruner-Yang, Toki Underground, Maketto
  • Scott Drewno, The Source by Wolfgang Puck
  • Tarver King, The Restaurant at Potowmack Farm
  • Cedric Maupiller, Mintwood Place, Convivial
Everyday Casual Dining Restaurant of the Year
  • Bar Pilar
  • Daikaya
  • The Fainting Goat
  • Pearl Dive Oyster Palace
  • Pizzeria Orso

Upscale Casual Restaurant of the Year

  • Le Diplomate
  • Osteria Morini
  • Sushiko
  • The Red Hen
  • Zaytinya

Upscale Casual Brunch

  • Blue Duck Tavern
  • Fiola Mare
  • Kapnos by Mike Isabella
  • Osteria Morini
  • The Source by Wolfgang Puck

Everyday Casual Brunch

  • DGS Delicatessen
  • Duke’s Grocery
  • Republic
  • Tico
  • Vinoteca

The voting public will decide the winners in four categories:

  • Favorite Gathering Place of the Year
  • Upscale Casual Brunch
  • Everyday Casual Brunch
  • Favorite Fast Bites 

Votes can be made online here through April 14.

2016 RAMMY winners will be announced at a blacktie event June 12.
