Maryland unemployment rate falls

WASHINGTON — Unemployment rates fell in 22 states in February, including in Maryland.

The Labor Department’s Bureau of Labor Statistics says the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Maryland was 4.7 percent last month, down from 4.8 percent in January and down from 5.4 percent in February 2015.

Virginia’s unemployment rate was unchanged in February at 4.1 percent, and down from 4.8 percent a year earlier.

New Hampshire and South Dakota tied for the lowest state unemployment rate in February, at 2.7 percent.

Mississippi and West Virginia tied for the highest state unemployment rate last month, at 6.5 percent.
