WASHINGTON — It’s been nearly three weeks since the Las Vegas shooting and one victim from Anne Arundel County, Maryland, who was shot in the head is recovering after having a second surgery.

Doctors at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore are calling the second surgery for 27-year-old Tina Frost a success.

Doctors performed the surgery on Thursday, according to a GoFundMe page set up for Tina Frost. Her family is providing updates on her progress on the page.

During the surgery, doctors worked to reconstruct parts of her skull, which they are hoping will reduce the risk of infection. Since they were able to see the injuries themselves, the doctors at John Hopkins are better able to plan future reconstructive surgeries.

The first surgery Frost had was in Las Vegas right after the shootings happened. Over the weekend, Frost was transferred to Johns Hopkins Hospital from a Las Vegas hospital. Her neurosurgeon in Vegas said that it’s a miracle that she even survived at all.

Surgeons at Johns Hopkins also inserted a titanium plate, which they hope will stabilize the bone around her nose and eye. Frost lost her right eye where the bullet had gotten lodged, according to her mother.

Even though she’s been making great strides in her recovery process, Frost still has a long road and more surgeries ahead. But before this latest surgery, Frost was sometimes smiling and took numerous steps with the help of nurses. She has also hugged her father and puckered her lips for her boyfriend Austin Hughes.

She was at the concert with Hughes in Las Vegas when she was shot.

Frost, who graduated from Arundel High School in 2008, was living in California, where she was working as an accountant.
