Election results for Va. firehouse primaries

WASHINGTON — The voting is over in Prince William and Fairfax County Republican firehouse primaries, and the results are in.

Voters in Fairfax County’s Sully District have selected John Guevara as the Republican nominee for the Board of Supervisors.

Guevara secured 478 votes in Saturday’s firehouse primary, good for 35 percent of the total.

Planning Commission member John Litzenberger placed second with 462 votes, and former county Electoral Board Secretary Brian Schoeneman got 422 votes.

Guevara, a former HOA president and youth sports coach, will face Democrat Kathy Smith in November. The winner will replace the retiring Michael Frey who has held the seat for more than two decades.
