TYSONS, Va. — With the World Police and Fire Games now less than 100 days away, WTOP is getting a sneak peek at some of the events and venues, including the firefighter stair climb.

It was one of the hardest events to find a venue for in the D.C. area, because the climb must be 26 stories or more. The event will be held on the first Saturday of the games in the new Tysons Tower, just across the plaza from Tysons Corner Center.

Overall, the games are expected to bring about 12,000 athletes and many of their families and friends from all over the world.

The games will feature 61 events from those specific to public safety agencies like the stair climb in full gear, to police dog events, dodge ball, pistol action and tug-of-war.

I tried out the full-gear stair climb event Wednesday. But, thanks to some concerns from building managers, I got some help making it all 28 stories up.
