Woman in wheelchair wins treadmill on ‘Price is Right’ (Video)

WASHINGTON — What you didn’t see on Tuesday’s “The Price is Right” was the awkward audience pause that happened after a woman in a wheelchair won a treadmill and a sauna: It was edited out before the show aired.

Danielle Perez, who lost her legs in an accident, is a comedian, and she is taking the win in stride.

She tells KTLA5 the strangest thing about her win was the reaction of staffers on the show.

“I kept thinking that it was a really big joke,” she told KTLA5 with a laugh, “but there was no irony in their cheers or applause.”

Perez even tweeted about the win.

People took to social media talking about the appropriateness of the prize.

“Every member of ‘The Price Is Right’ studio audience has a chance to be selected to play,” CBS and FremantleMedia told PEOPLE, adding, “Prizes are determined in advance of the show and are not decided based on the contestants.”

Perez says being on the so show was “so much fun,” but she hasn’t received her treadmill yet. She says that, like any other piece of exercise equipment, she’ll probably use it as a piece of furniture.
