WASHINGTON — A motion filed over the weekend requests an expedited ruling on the Purple Line.
Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh filed the motion with U. S. District Judge Richard Leon Friday. The motion requests a final judgement by April 28 about whether the details of an environmental impact statement will further set back construction of the line.
The plaintiffs in the case — Friends of the Capital Cresent Trail — argued that building of the light rail would cause irreparable environmental damage to the area.
Construction of the Purple Line was slated to begin last fall before the lawsuit was filed.
