Canadian robot hitchhikes across America

WASHINGTON — There is a robot for everything. Now, there is one that hitchhikes.

HitchBOT, the humanoid robot, is tweeting its journey to San Francisco from Massachusetts.

So far the robot — the creation of two Canadian researchers — has watched a Red Sox game and has been out to sea.

The last time WTOP checked, it was in New York City and took its first ride on a subway train.

The robot is immobile and depends on strangers to move it around.

Previously, the robot took 26 days to travel across Canada.
