Downtown Silver Spring’s newest restaurant: Not Your Average Joe’s

WASHINGTON – Boston-based restaurant chain Not Your Average Joe’s will open its newest D.C.-area location July 12 at the newly renovated Ellsworth Place Mall in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland.

Petrie Richardson Ventures and Rockwood Capital acquired the former City Place Mall in 2012 and have spent four years renovating the 350,000-square-foot property at 8661 Colesville Rd., across the street from the Fillmore Silver Spring.

Not Your Average Joe’s occupies 6,500 square feet with outdoor seating. The restaurant bills itself as “a neighborhood place where people know your name, the food and prices are great, where you feel special without dressing up.”

The 22-year-old chain has 26 locations in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Maryland and Virginia.

Ellsworth Place is now fully leased. Other recently announced tenants include Burlington Coat Factory, Dave & Buster’s, Guitar Center, Marshalls, Michaels, Ross and TJ Maxx.

Stores already open include Payless, Foot Locker and MOD Pizza.

Forever 21 Red, Kung Fu Tea and Rue21 will open soon.

Annapolis, Maryland-based Petrie Richardson Ventures also owns and operates Woodmore Towne Center in Glenarden, Maryland.
