    Bring Your Own Bags
Don't know how it is in the rest of the DC area, but we here in Fairfax County bring our own bags - been doing this for quite some time - maybe others should pick up the same habit.

    Bag tax
    Hi Chris.
You commentaries are always interesting - even if I don't always agree.
I support the plastic bag tax (banning them would be even better) for environmental reasons. The negative impact on the environment is huge: visit this for a pic of an "ocean garbage patch): http://www.mnn.com/earth-matters/translating-uncle-sam/stories/what-is-the-great-pacific-ocean-garbage-patch for an example.
I always carry cloth bags to ANY store - it's what some other countries do and what previous generations did. Not a big deal for us to do. We DID survive before plastic bags.
A good way to not have the bag tax issue - ban them outright...new habits re cloth bags take time to learn, but I did...now I never forget em'!
