DC man arrested in Capitol Heights killings of 2 teens; Police search for 2nd suspect

WASHINGTON — Prince George’s County police announced Tuesday they arrested a D.C. man in connection with one of two back-to-back shootings over the weekend in Capitol Heights, Maryland, that left two teens dead and injured four other people.

But police are still searching for as many as two additional suspects who first fired into a crowd of more than a dozen people during a dice game in the parking lot of the Regency Lane Apartments on Walker Mill Road early Sunday morning.

Bravon Freeman, 22, of Southeast D.C. was arrested at the scene of the shooting, Rob Brewer, commander of the Prince George’s County criminal investigation division, told reporters Tuesday.

Freeman was part of the crowd gathered in the parking lot for the dice game when one or two suspects approached the group and opened fire, killing 18-year-old Brian Davis, of Northwest D.C., Brewer said.

A few minutes later, Freeman shot and killed 14-year-old Todd Webb Jr. of Capitol Heights, who may have been injured in the first hail of gunfire, and then began physically assaulting him, according to police. Freeman has been charged with first- and second-degree murder in Webb’s death.

All told, four other people were wounded in the back-to-back shootings, including one victim with life-threatening injuries, police said earlier this week.

Police are still trying to determine a motive for the initial shooting, Brewers said.

There were dozens of witnesses to the initial shooting, according to authorities.

Police have offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment.

“At this time, we’re asking for the community to provide us any information they have on this case, as we’re trying to make arrests for the second homicide,” Brewer said.
