WASHINGTON — A 16-inch water main break has created a huge sinkhole in Prince George’s County.
It happened overnight on 38th Avenue and Hamilton Street in Hyattsville.
WSSC crews are out inspecting the break and have shut off water, leaving some residents without water. WTOP’s television news partner NBC Washington reports several cars had to be towed from the area.
Prince George’s County Fire Department spokesman Mark Brady says they have made contingency plans in case of an emergency — putting a water tanker and two additional fire engines in place in the area.
It was not immediately known how long repairs will last.
