Storm damages buildings in Laurel’s historic district

LAUREL, Md. (AP) _ Authorities in Laurel say about a dozen buildings in the city’s historic district were damaged by a storm.

The National Weather Service said Thursday morning that it is still evaluating whether the damage during Tuesday night’s storm came from a tornado or straight line winds.

Laurel emergency services officials say the storm damaged the roof of a historic theater and another building. It also blew out windows, displaced bricks and knocked trees onto cars.
