Victim in deadly Laurel tour bus crash identified

WASHINGTON — Authorities have identified a man who was killed  in a crash Thursday evening involving a tour bus and another vehicle.

The crash happened around 6:15 p.m. on Fort Meade Road near Route 197 in Laurel, Maryland.

Audrey Barnes with the City of Laurel said the bus was attempting to make a left turn into a shopping plaza when it collided with a pickup truck.

Barnes said the driver of the pickup truck died on the scene of the crash. The victim was identified late Thursday as 45-year-old Michael Palomo.

Fifty-eight people were on the tour bus, and seven were taken to a hospital after complaining of minor injuries.

The bus was headed to Niagara Falls, according to Barnes.

The crash remains under investigation.
