3-alarm fire in PG County leaves 88 displaced

WASHINGTON– An estimated 88 people, including 27 children, will be displaced after a three-alarm fire tore through an apartment building in Temple Hills, Maryland, on Saturday night.

Prince George’s County firefighters responded to a fire in the 3400 block of Brinkley Road at 7 p.m. The fire on the top floor quickly spread to three buildings in the complex. It has since been extinguished.

Prince George’s County Fire Department spokesman Mark Brady reports one firefighter has been transported due to exhaustion. No resident injuries have been reported. Two dogs were rescued, one of which has been taken to a veterinarian for burn injuries, Brady says.

Brady reports that the American Red Cross is currently assisting those displaced by the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
