Romantic connection in fatal Upper Marlboro home invasion

WASHINGTON — The Prince George’s County police say there was a romantic connection involving the man who died in a fatal shooting and home invasion in Upper Marlboro early Monday morning.

Police say a man called 911 at about 2:40 a.m. to report he had just shot someone who was trying to climb into a window in his house in a gated community just south of Route 4.

When police arrived at the scene, they found 30-year-old Craig Corbin, Jr., suffering from a gunshot wound. Corbin, a Baltimore resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one inside the home was hurt, police say.

A resident and Corbin had a prior romantic relationship, police added.

“The circumstances leading up to the shooting itself currently remain under investigation,” says police spokeswoman Cpl. Maria McKinney.

Police have not released any additional information about the shooter.
