Super Bowl Sunday, 1.25B chicken wings to be eaten

WASHINGTON — When folks get together for the Super Bowl, it’s estimated 1.25 billion chicken wings will be eaten, and that fans will gamble $115 on the game, according to the personal finance social network WalletHub.

Other tidbits:

  • There will be a 10-mile no-fly zone in effect.
  • About 171 million people will watch the game on TV.
  • NBC will offer 11 hours of live streaming of the game online.
  • A 30-second ad costs more than $4.5 million.
  • More than 14 billion hamburgers will be eaten.
  • About $12 billion will be spent on Super Bowl merchandise.
  • One in five Americans would miss a close friends’s wedding to go to the Super Bowl.
