Chris Rock jokes about 9/11, Boston Marathon bombing

WASHINGTON — Never known for pulling his punches, comedian Chris Rock delivered a monologue on Saturday Night Live that critics say appeared to make light of the Boston Marathon bombing, and then poked fun at the new Freedom Tower in NYC.

“In America there are no sacred days, because we commercialize everything,” said Rock, who was a cast member on the show from 1990-93. “We’re only five years away from 9/11 sales.”

The video has gone viral and sparked and a Twitter fury decrying the comedian for going too far.
