Lafayette holds off Georgetown 24-21

EASTON, Pa. (AP) — Ross Scheuerman rushed for three touchdowns, including the game-winner, to lead Lafayette to a 24-21 win over Georgetown on Saturday.

Georgetown took a 21-17 lead with 8:44 left in the game on Justin Hill’s 6-yard TD reception. Lafayette responded with a nine-play, 63-yard drive, capped by Scheuerman’s 5-yard score with 5:24 remaining.

Phillip Parham intercepted Georgetown’s Kyle Nolan pass with 53 seconds left to seal the game.

Blake Searfoss completed 17 of 26 passes, with two interceptions, for Lafayette (3-3, 2-1 Patriot). Scheuerman finished with 58 yards on 22 carries.

Nolan threw for 165 yards and two touchdowns, with two interceptions for Georgetown (2-5, 0-2). Jo’el Kimpela gained 159 yards on the ground, including a 19-yard second quarter touchdown that put the Hoyas up 14-0. Daniel Wright added 106 yards, marking the first time two Georgetown players have rushed for over 100 yards in one game since its season-opener in 2012.
